In order to promote helpfulness and human understanding, special activities and projects are required. It is one of the main targets of Soroptimist International and our SI – Club Merania, of course, to stand up for human rights and the advancement of women. Each contribution to global communication and reciprocal respect begins with small local projects. Since our foundation we have already initiated and supervised several projects and thus supported the aims of SI on a national and international level.
3rd Golf Challenge Cup SI Italy – 15th May 2010 – Golf Club Brandis Lana – Lana near Meran/Merano (BZ)
In collaboration with the SI – Clubs of Busto Arsizio “Ticino Olona”, Savona, Sondrio, Varese, Como, Bergamo and Lecco our SI – Club Merania is organizing this Golf Challenge Cup. A part of the proceeds from this charity Golf Challenge Cup will be donated to the women of the Dinka tribe in the village Turalei in the south of Sudan. The women, most of them war widows, outcasts with their children, will be given the money for the construction of traditional straw huts. The name of the project is “oak kongret”, which means “solidarity” in the Dinka women’s language.
